2018 District Committee Elections

Please Attend the SDCMA 2018 District Committee Elections. We encourage all CMA members to attend as your input is needed. All service positions are available. If you are seeking a service commitment, please see the list of positions below and attend on Dec. 1st to declare your interest to run. Please note the length-of-sobriety requirements listed below; however, there is not a length-of-sobriety requirement to serve on any SDCMA committee.

Position Qualifications/Responsibilities

NOTE: The term of office for all positions listed below is two years (January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2020)

Chair

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of four years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to two years with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Served as District Committee Member for at least one year
  • Have a thorough, working knowledge of the 12 Traditions of CMA and 12 Concepts of CMA; be familiar with Robert’s Rules of Order, the articles of incorporation and bylaws of SDCI

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Presides at District Committee meetings and District Assemblies
  • Ensures that the Assembly and District Committee comply with the bylaws
  • Be highly visible at CMA meetings and attend at least 10 meetings per month
  • May serve as a member of the California Area Committee
  • Serve as a member of all subcommittees and assist as necessary

Co-Chair

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to two years with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Served as a GSR or District Committee Member for at least one year

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preside at all District Committee meetings and District Assemblies in absence of the Chair
  • Perform all other duties of the Chair if the Chair is absent or otherwise unable to perform the duties
  • Serve as a member of all subcommittees and assist as necessary

Secretary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to two years with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Possess good writing skills
  • Have ready access to a computer and be familiar with a word processing computer program

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take, keep, and distribute minutes of all District Committee meetings and District Assemblies
  • Keep other records and documents such as the bylaws and articles of incorporation

Treasurer

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of four years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to two years with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Served as a District Committee Member for at least one year
  • Be familiar with basic accounting and budgeting procedures
  • Have ready access to a computer and be familiar with a bookkeeping or spreadsheet computer program

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep and maintain adequate and accurate records of the assets and transactions of the District
  • Provide periodic accounting of the District’s financial condition and transactions to the District Committee and District Assembly
  • Deposit and disburse funds as necessary
  • Serve as a member of the Structure & Finance Subcommittee

Group Registrar

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Served as a GSR or District Committee Member for at least one year

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a list of all meetings in the District, including times, locations, etc.
  • Maintain a list of all GSRs and Alternate GSRs for each meeting in the District
  • Coordinate with the Chair of the Literature Subcommittee to maintain current meeting lists
  • In coordination with the Chair and Secretary, serve as a conduit of information between the District Committee and meetings in the District via the GSRs and Alternate GSRs
  • When a meeting has no GSR, communicate with trusted servants of meetings to encourage and request that a GSR be elected
  • Serve as the point of contact for new groups wishing to have their meetings become represented at the District

Chair, Public Information & Outreach Subcommittee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Experience or skills to carry out the responsibilities of the subcommittee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the subcommittee responsible for: (a) responding and referring to requests for information from individuals and the media to the respective District representative, (b) operating the local phone line, website, and other District-approved methods of communication, (c) providing information to the public regarding the local CMA fellowship, and (d) providing information to the ‘non-addict’ whose work or association may be involved with an active crystal meth addict.

Chair, Events & Fellowship Subcommittee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Experience or skills to carry out the responsibilities of the subcommittee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the subcommittee responsible for (a) planning and producing events in the District, such as roundups, conventions, conferences, retreats, and social events, such as dances, movie nights, etc.

Chair, Hospitals & Institutions Subcommittee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Experience or skills to carry out the responsibilities of the subcommittee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the subcommittee responsible for carrying CMA’s message of recovery to addicts in hospitals, jails, prisons, rehabs, treatment centers, sober living houses, etc.; represent the District at the Area and World Service level (e.g. monthly world H&I Committee conference call)

Chair, Literature Subcommittee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Experience or skills to carry out the responsibilities of the subcommittee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the subcommittee responsible for developing, revising, translating and publishing literature (and other forms of media, audiovisual materials and other special items) in order to strengthen CMA as a whole and carry the CMA message; represent the District at the Area and World Service level, in order to bring forward literature for the fellowship

Chair, Structure & Finance Subcommittee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Experience or skills to carry out the responsibilities of the subcommittee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the subcommittee responsible for budgeting, expenditures, auditing, and, when necessary, recommending amendments to the District’s articles of incorporation and bylaws.

Fulfillment Coordinator (adjunct/non-voting)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety (waiver permitted down to one year with unanimous vote of committee)
  • Access to transportation to provide fulfillment to meetings in the District

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and maintain the District’s supply of tokens and literature
  • Fulfill token and literature orders from meetings in the District
  • Work with the Treasurer to ensure payment for token and literature orders
